The 7th International Conference on Islam and Higher Education (ICHE) 2024, themed “Engaging Islamic and Contemporary Sciences for a Sustainable Future” by UCYP University, Malaysia.
Kuantan, 11 September 2024 – The 7th International Conference on Islam and Higher Education (ICHE) 2024, “Engaging Islamic and Contemporary Sciences for a Sustainable Future”, was successfully organized by UCYP University, Malaysia.
The conference commenced with a welcoming speech by Tan Sri Dato’ Sri Professor Dr. Noorul Ainur Mohd Nur, Chairman Board of Governors who warmly welcomed all participants and distinguished speakers. Among the prominent speakers were Professor Emeritus Dato’ Dr. Osman Bakar, Al-Ghazali Chair of Epistemology and Civilizational Studies and Renewal from International Institute of Islamic Thought and Civilization (ISTAC-IIUM) Malaysia; Professor Dr. H. Mohammad Amin Abdullah from Universitas Islam Negeri Sunan Kalijaga, Indonesia; Dr. Suraiya Chapakiya, Head of the Malay Language Department from Fatoni University, Thailand; Dr. Norashikin binti Yusof, Deputy Director and Senior Assistant Professor, Centre for the Promotion of Knowledge and Language from Universiti Islam Sultan Sharif Ali, Brunei Darussalam; and Dr. Yosi Aryanti Sag, M.A., Principal of Sekolah Tinggi Ilmu Tarbiyah (STIT) Ahlussunnah, Bukit Tinggi, Sumatera Barat, Indonesia.
Associate Professor Dr. Amran bin Muhammad, Executive Director of Institut Ilmu Darul Makmur, was invited to deliver an opening speech on behalf of the Chief Executive Officer of Majlis Ugama Islam dan Adat Resam Melayu Pahang (MUIP), Dato’ Haji Ahmad Hairi bin Hussain.
In his speech, Dr. Amran emphasized the significance of the conference theme, “Engaging Islamic and Contemporary Sciences for a Sustainable Future”, highlighting that it aligns with one of MUIP’s flagship projects: the establishment of the Centre for Knowledge and Civilization in Pahang’s new administrative capital, KotaSAS. This initiative, under the leadership of Yang Amat Mulia Tengku Panglima Raja Brigedier Jeneral Tengku Amir Nasser Ibrahim Shah Ibni Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah, the Deputy President of MUIP, aims to enhance the educational landscape in the state through the development, implementation, and monitoring of knowledge and education policies.
Dr. Amran further stated, “Institut Ilmu Darul Makmur will be responsible to develop, implement and monitor knowledge and education policies for a wide range of educational establishment in the State including Islamic educational institutions such as pre-school, primary secondary and tertiary institutions. One of the key elements in this undertaking is by engaging the existing Islamic Sciences in these Institutions with the Contemporary Sciences in order to make these institutions becoming more adaptive and competitive in today’s world.” The 7th ICHE Launching Ceremony continued with a symbolic signing by Associate Professor Dr. Amran bin Muhammad.
The 7th International Conference on Islam and Higher Education 2024 successfully brought together scholars and experts from across the region, fostering important discussions on the integration of Islamic and Contemporary Sciences. This event marks a significant step forward in promoting sustainable educational practices and collaborations for a brighter future in Islamic education and beyond.
